Musicians & Performers Learning & Support Group!
This page is primarily for players who have an interest in joining
the band. Reading this short page fills you in, and saves a lot of
time, so I don't have to go over it all any time we have to add a new
player. Get back to me once you absorb! : )
We're a Zanesville based group. IE: We rehearse here. I have a full
PA set up 24/7. But we haven't played more than a few gigs in Zville!
One of our players lives in Columbus, so we're going to get some gigs
west of Zville. But we've also played gigs in Coshocton, and Dresden.
You can usually ride in the van with us.
We pretty much split the money evenly. But I also consider who drives
from where, and compensate for gas/mileage.
Wayne Reed & Route 66
No matter what the need, Route 66 can provide the type of music wanted!
Play the short audio sample and continue reading while you listen.
From quiet Blues & Light Jazz Solo or Duet performances to full blown
"Rock The House" performances with Route 66, with up to 5 live
vocalists and 2 guitars! Depending on the venue's budget!
First off, Rt66 is a tracks band. But . . . NO MIDI FILES! We don't
use computer generated MIDI files! I product Pro backing track that
cover the drums and percussion, bass guitar, piano & organ, and when
required, orchestral instruments. (Horns, etc.) Produced in my home
studio. To date I have well over 2,000 hours wrapped up producing our
backing tracks. Think 5 pc band with a keyboard player handling the
strings and/or horns. Basically, it's the same thing.
NOTE: We all tune down a half step. Eb standard. Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb.
IT'S EASY ON THE PIPES! All tracks are down a half from original.
The tracks play through one or two Bose PA systems, depending on the
venue size. (3,000wts!) For large or ourside venues we also use up to
three Mackie DLM12 2,000 watt powered speakers. (6,000wts) That's a
total of 9,000 watts of Bose and Mackie power and quality!
NOTE: Bose PA systems require a small footprint. And not needing to
set up a full drum kit, and no keyboards needed, and no bass guitar,
and no keys or bass amp, we're able to sound like a 6 or 7 pc band,
in very little space!
Additionally, we're able to control our volume for even the smallest
venue! No loud drums! We play to the volume the house wants!
Our song list is pretty big. About 200 songs. We cover about 80 artists.
But don't let that scare you! The tracks make rehearsals smooth and easy.
You'll never hear someone say . . . That's not how we did it last time!
And rehearsals (we're not rehearsaholics!) are productive. Take less time.
Usually a couple, and you'll be ready to go! Plus, we never have to start
over because the bass player, keys or drummer messes uo. The tracks are
always right! PLUS . . .
Plus, we use teleprompter monitors. Sitting on the floor in front of you.
On guitar stands. So they tip back for easy reading! Every song is synced
to the backing track. It has the lyrics, chords, and ques! If you can read
a sheet of paper with lyrics and chords, and play along with it, this will
be a snap! Once you play the songs a time or two, all you'll need is an
occasional glance down! And they pretty much look like PA monitors
from the audience side.

Our core band consists of 3 vocalists, hand percussion, lead/rhythm
guitar and harmonica/blues harp.
Paulette Marie sings Blues, Swing, Big Band, some Rockers and some Country,
depending on the gig. Greg Morris is a BELTER! Think Blood Sweat & Tears
David Clayton Thomas! I sing Blues, some Latin Rock, and some Rockers. I
also play lead & rhythm guitar and blues harp.
One of our players went back to school to get another degree. He sang
and was a solid rhythm player! Plus, our roadie just moved pretty far
away, job related. So he's out!
Right now we need a solid rhythm guitar player. You can play lead if you
want, too! We can switch songs/leads. Plus if you play lead, I can focus on
blues harp on Blues and Rockers! (Also why I need another rhythm player!)
We are also very much in need of a roadie! If you know someone who
might be interested, please send him my way! It's an EASY roadie gig!
So you can see we're not a MIDI band with a guy strumming an acoustic.
We're a full band! You can see our song list at the bottom of the page.
Depending on the venue, and their budget, I target gigs where we can ALL
play! The ideal gig will be for all 4 of us to play.
